The Arkansas State Archives houses approximately 13,000 cubic feet of state records and manuscript collections pertaining to the history of Arkansas and its people. These materials have been described and inventoried for ease of access. These inventories, called finding aids, are keyword searchable. Separated Materials: Some archival collections contain materials that have been stored separately from the bulk of the collection due to those items' preservation needs. Generally, this affects collections that include artifacts that have been moved to the archives' museum collection, and the existence of artifacts in a collection has been noted in that collection's finding aid. Due to the nature of artifact and other separated materials, we require researchers to fill out an Artifact Access Form and send it in to state.archives@arkansas.gov, to schedule an appointment to view artifacts from the museum collection.

Murmil Heights Elementary School photograph albums, 1962-1980
This collection is comprised of yearly class photographs from first through sixth school grades at the Murmil Heights Elementary School of El Dorado, Arkansas, depicting students and teachers from 1962 – 1982, as well as photographs from events held at the school in 1984 and 1985. The collection also contains a newspaper clipping pertaining to an event at the elementary school from 1984.

Muster roll, Chicot Guards, Confederate States of America, 1863
This collection contains the muster roll of the 3rd Company of the 23rd Arkansas Regiment, called the Chicot Guards. Leona Brasher, historian for the McConnell Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, copied this muster roll, which was in the possession of Captain George K. Cracraft at the time.

"My Recollection of the Civil War" by Mrs. M.J. McAlmont, 1904-1905
This collection contains the Civil War reminiscences of Martha McAlmont as she remembered them in 1904 and 1905. Her contributions to the war effort, nursing wounded soldiers, living without many necessities, the occupation of Little Rock by Union troops, and the hanging of David O. Dodd are all included.

Negro Rural School Fund letters, 1913
This collection contains three pieces of correspondence from or to R.K. Bruff, office secretary of the Negro Rural School Fund, dated February 1913. The correspondence bears the Jeanes Foundation letterhead, which lists its board of trustees, including Booker T. Washington, William H. Taft, and Andrew Carnegie. The correspondence pertains to the appointment of a "supervising industrial teacher" in Hempstead County and miscommunication regarding the budgetary restrictions around this position. The final letter contains a detailed description of the mixture of agriculture, maintenance and education involved in this position.

It also contains a typed index of the names that can be found in the records and genealogical research for one of the church clerks, Samuel Hannibal Edington. S.H. Edington was the great-grandfather of the donors of this collection, Sara Johnson and Sylvia Sullivan Skinner. Also included in the collection, is a photocopy of a newspaper article on the history of New Bethel Church and its merging with Lebanon and Concord Baptist Churches to form Victory Baptist Church and photocopy of a newspaper article about the 106th anniversary of Victory Baptist Church.

This collection contains one record book from the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Amity, Arkansas, and loose pieces of correspondence from Reverend J.T. Moore in Los Esteros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The record book contains the minutes of the church and the articles of faith. The letters are reports to the New Hope church about J.T. Moore's missionary work and his thanks for the funds to carry on that mission. They also detail how the Mexican Revolutionary War affected the people of Mexico.

This collection contains stockholders and directors minutes authorizing issuance of bonds and construction of the North Arkansas and Western Railway. Directors were J.M. Pittman, President, J.J. Baggett, F. P. Hall, J. R. Harris, George T. Lake and W. L. Stuckey. Additional stockholders included C. C. Conway. George T. Lake was chairman of the stockholders and F.P. Hall was secretary.
