Description
This collection contains the muster roll of the 3rd Company of the 23rd Arkansas Regiment, called the Chicot Guards. Leona Brasher, historian for the McConnell Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, copied this muster roll, which was in the possession of Captain George K. Cracraft at the time.
Biographical/Historical Note
The 3rd Company of the 23rd Arkansas Regiment was known as the Chicot Guards. The company was captured at Port Hudson, Louisiana, in July of 1863. The captured soldiers were sent to various prisons, where they spent the remainder of the war.
