Description

This collection contains two photographs. The first is a portrait of a young man, probably Reynolds. The second is of the N.C. Reynolds family with the family members. Also contained in the collection is a swatch from a dress worn by Mary Frances Ada Wright (Mrs. Reynolds) on her twelfth birthday.

Biographical/Historical Note

N.C. (Newsome C.) Reynolds was born in Mississippi in 1844. He came to Arkansas during the Civil War, serving in Kings Company, 2nd Regiment, Missouri-Arkansas division from 1861-1865, and was wounded at the Hatchie Bridge during the Battle of Corinth, Mississippi. Reynolds applied for an Arkansas Confederate Pension in August 1912. According to his physician's report, Reynolds could do little work as result of a crippled hand and foot. Reynolds, his wife Mary, and their children, John, Margaret, Ada, James, Ida, and Grace are listed in the 1880 census. They were living in Jefferson County, Arkansas, at the time of N.C. Reynolds' death, on August 4, 1919.
