This muster roll was compiled by Miss Louis Etta Porterfield of Little Rock.

Biographical/Historical Note

Company I, Third Regiment, Arkansas Volunteers, Confederate States Army, organized at Tulip, Arkansas (Dallas County) in 1861, and was known as the Tulip Rifles. The company traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia. On July 18, 1862, thirty members of disbanded Company B, Second Arkansas Infantry Battalion, were assigned to this company. During its four years of service, 150 men served in Company I. Out of the 150, only thirteen of them remained at the time of the company's surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865.
