Biographical/Historical Note

My Silent Voice was a project to create a marker to provide additional details about the lives of Homer G. Blackman, who was lynched on October 7, 1906, and John Carter, who was lynched on May 4, 1927. A permanent marker was placed in Fraternal Cemetery to honor Homer G. Blackman. One was also placed in Oakland Cemetery to honor John Carter. Street signs were also placed in each cemetery memorializing each man.
