The Arkansas State Archives houses approximately 13,000 cubic feet of state records and manuscript collections pertaining to the history of Arkansas and its people. These materials have been described and inventoried for ease of access. These inventories, called finding aids, are keyword searchable. Separated Materials: Some archival collections contain materials that have been stored separately from the bulk of the collection due to those items' preservation needs. Generally, this affects collections that include artifacts that have been moved to the archives' museum collection, and the existence of artifacts in a collection has been noted in that collection's finding aid. Due to the nature of artifact and other separated materials, we require researchers to fill out an Artifact Access Form and send it in to state.archives@arkansas.gov, to schedule an appointment to view artifacts from the museum collection.

Carolyn Owens Hervey collection, 1928-1982
This collection contains church anniversary programs of some Little Rock Baptist and African Methodist Episcopal churches from 1945 to 1982, and Scipio A. Jones High School (formerly known as the Argenta Colored School and Hickory Street School and named for Jones in 1928) yearbooks and graduation exercise programs from 1932 to 1958. The school, which was located in North Little Rock, Arkansas, closed in 1970.
The collection contains a large Bible published in 1885. The Bible contains five pages of Carr family information.

C.B. Butler collection; 1863-1865
This collection contains correspondence, Confederate currency, a parole form, and a piece of the flag that had flown over Appomattox Court House on the day of the Confederate surrender. The correspondence contains letters from General Robert E. Lee to Major General Sam Jones about troop movements in Tennessee and his desire to retake Knoxville in order to control the railroad in that region. It also contains a letter from Postmaster General John H. Reagan in Richmond, Virginia, to Major General John Breckenridge about difficulties with the telegraph lines in Virginia.
