This collection contains a letter written by Charles Milor of Milor, Arkansas to Abraham Lincoln recommending Mr. Holleman for Marshall, Western District Court of Arkansas.

Biographical/Historical Note

Charles Milor was born October 4, 1818 to James Milor and Martha Boles Milor in Floyd County, Kentucky. Charles had limited schooling but did attended the State University in Bloomington, Indiana. Milor moved to Arkansas in 1838 and married Emiline Tyree December 12, 1849. He served as justice of the peace four years, and was county and probate judge of Sebastian County two terms. In 1864 he was elected to the state senate. Milor was later active in Republican politics. Milor was elected as state representative for Sebastian County in 1876 and went back to farming after serving one term. He died January 12, 1887.
