This collection consists of one letter from Jefferson Davis, Beauvoir, Mississippi, to C.D. Mixon, Camden, Arkansas, dated June 8, 1886; one thank you note from Mrs. Jefferson Davis, New York, to C.D. Mixon, Camden Arkansas, dated November 17, 1898.

Biographical/Historical Note

Jefferson Davis (1808-1889) was a politician who served as the president of the Confederate States from 1861 to 1865. He was a senator, representative, and served as U.S. Secretary of War before the Civil War.; Camden was incorporated on December 11, 1844 and is the county seat of Ouachita County.
