Description

This letter from Jefferson Davis concerns the nomination of John Taylor Wood as his aide-de-camp.

Biographical/Historical Note

Jefferson Davis served as President of the Confederate States of America until his capture by Union forces in 1865. In 1867, he was released and returned to Mississippi. He died in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 6, 1889.
