This letter from Jefferson Davis to C.B. Atwood concerns payment of taxes.
Biographical/Historical Note
Jefferson Davis served as president of the Confederate States of America, 1861-1865. In 1877, Davis moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, to a house called Beauvoir, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. He remained there until his death on December 5, 1889.
