This collection contains a letter from Walter Brown to Arkansas History Commission Director Ted Worley relating to the Harmon L. Remmel papers at the University of Arkansas Library.

Biographical/Historical Note

Walter L. Brown oversaw the daily operations of the Arkansas Historical Society for thirty-five years and also edited the Arkansas Historical Quarterly. Brown was born in Gatesville, Texas, in 1924, to Frank J. Brown and Alice Berry Brown. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and taught in the history department at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Brown died in Fayetteville on January 17, 2014.
