This collection contains meeting minutes from the First United Methodist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas; as well as brochures, newspapers, telephone directories, books, and maps related to Magnolia and other locations around Arkansas. The collection also contains two ledgers with accounts for stores and a blacksmith shop in Madison County, Arkansas.
Biographical/Historical Note
Wallace Waits was born in Arkansas on January 13, 1915. He married Nina Braswell in 1943 in Macon, Georgia, and the two eventually moved to Magnolia, Arkansas. They had four sons, Wally, Jim, Larry, and Tom. The materials in this collection were collected by Wallace F. Waits and his son, Wally. They were donated by Wally Waits. Wallace and Nina Waits were members of the First United Methodist Church in Magnolia. The minutes in this collection are likely from the time period in which he served on church committees. Wallace Waits died in Houston, Texas, on May 23, 1974.
