This collection includes one commission to Major James H. May, 7th Arkansas Battalion and one appointment to James H. May to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the 4th Arkansas Regiment in the Confederate Army.
Biographical/Historical Note
James H. May was a lieutenant colonel of the Fourth Arkansas Regiment in the Confederate Army, appointed by Jefferson Davis. The commission in this collection is signed by Confederate Secretary of War James A. Seddon. The commission states that, should he choose to accept the position, May will report to Colonel Bunn.
