This collection contains county archives inventory books, created by the Historical Records Survey, for Baxter, Benton, Carroll, Cleburne, Cleveland, Cross, Faulkner, Hot Spring, Izard, Jackson, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Polk, Saline, Searcy, and Scott counties. Each county archives inventory book includes a general overview of the archives themselves, followed by brief descriptions of the collections they hold. There is also a brief introduction to what an archives is and the terminology used.
Biographical/Historical Note
Inventories of the county archives of Arkansas were performed by the Historical Records Survey, a division of the Community Service Programs under the Work Projects Administration (WPA).
