This collection contains the handwritten account of the Battle of Corinth, Mississippi, by a unknown company officer of the 1st Missouri Brigade.

Biographical/Historical Note

Union troops under the command of Major General William Rosecrans and the Confederate forces under the direction of Major General Sterling Price and Major General Earl Van Dorn, fought in Corinth, Mississippi on October 3-4, 1862. The confederate military wanted to seize Corinth, due to the fact that it was a Union supply post and railroad station. The Confederate military lost the Battle of Corinth with4,200 casualties.
