Biographical/Historical Note
William Jefferson Clinton was born William Jefferson Blythe IV on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas, to William Jefferson Blythe III and Virginia Cassidy Blythe. Sometime after the death of her husband, Virginia married a man named Roger Clinton, who adopted William and changed his last name to Clinton. Bill Clinton served as Governor of Arkansas from 1979-1981 and again in 1983-1992. In 1992, Clinton ran for President of the United States and won. He became the 42nd President in 1993 and served until 2001.
