Description
This collection consists of the letters of Helene Wadsworth Bean and Dr. Whitfield Brooks Bean, and letters of other family members, covering the time period from 1892 to 1932.
Biographical/Historical Note
Dr. Whitfield Brooks Bean (1868-1940) was born in Port Oak, Alabama. He graduated from Tulane University, New Orleans, and moved to LaGrange, Arkansas, in 1892. Allis Helene Wadsworth (1879-1919) was born in Marshall County, Mississippi, and lived in Lexa, Arkansas. She married Dr. Bean in 1899 and moved with him to Marianna, Arkansas, in 1908. After her death, Dr. Bean married Katherine Allnutt of Little Rock in 1927. He practiced medicine in Marianna until a few years before his death.
