Description
This collection contains correspondence between Douglas P. Frazier and his wife, Margina Rhyne Frazier, and between Mrs. Frazier and her mother, Ida Rhyne, during WWII. It also contains one photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas P. Frazier and a book of military commander's notes.
Biographical/Historical Note
Colonel Douglas Pemberton Frazier was born in Globe, Arizona, on July 29, 1919, to Stella R. Pemberton Frazier and Thaddius T. Frazier. He enlisted in the United States Army on December 12, 1941. He was married to Margina "Gina" or Martha Ryhne Frazier. She was born in 1922 to Ida Taylor and James Rhyne, of Little Rock, Arkansas. The letters in this collection were written during Frazier's service in World War II. They include correspondence between Frazier and his wife, Margina, during his service in Europe, while she remained in Little Rock. It also includes correspondence between Margina and her mother, Ida Rhyne. It is believed that Frazier also served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Frazier was released from service on January 6, 1970. He died on November 3, 1987 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
