This collection contains correspondence, newsclippings, poems, name cards, certificates, diplomas, yearbooks, and other materials about the families of Rees Pritchard Horrocks and Dilla Basham Horrocks.

Biographical/Historical Note

Dilla Basham was born about 1872, to James and Lemira Shelton Basham of Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas. Rees Pritchard Horrocks was born December 1, 1859. He and Dilla Basham were married on November 20, 1901. Rees was a Freemason and a Shriner. Dilla died on November 30, 1954, but it is not known when Rees died. George Leftridge Basham, a relative of Dilla's, was born to Oliver and Martha B. Patrick Basham on March 24, 1848, near Clarksville, Arkansas. He fought in the Civil War, was a lawyer, and served as the commander of Omer R. Weaver Camp, United Confederate Veterans, in 1913. He married Julia Parma Beall on October 1, 1879. They had three children; Pearl Reed and Martha Parma, who both died in childhood, and Newberry Leftridge. Judge Basham died November 19, 1914, preceded by his wife, who died on January 10, 1911.
