This collection includes a political broadside against secession published by the Citizens of Benton County on February 12, 1861.

Biographical/Historical Note

from February 12, 1861. Smith argues, that if Arkansas leaves the Union then she becomes a foreign government with no Constitutional grounds to retrieve property, escaped slaves, from free states. He states that the individuals working within the Federal Government can be made to see reason and that Arkansas needs to work within that system in order to maintain property rights.
