Description

This collection contains an unbound ledger from the office of the Auditor of the State of Arkansas. Transactions recorded in the ledger include information such as the date, warrant number, voucher number, payee name, and amount. Also included in the collection is a color photocopy of the ledger's pages and a USB storage device containing scans.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Auditor of the State is one of Arkansas's seven constitutional offices and serves as the general accountant for the state. The office of Arkansas State Auditor began in 1819 with the establishment of Arkansas as a territory. During the time period of 1838-1851 this office was held by Elias N. Conway, A. Boileau, C. C. Danley, William Read Miller, and A. S. Huey. During this time, auditors were appointed by the state legislature.
