This collection contains a written manuscript and typed copy of an eyewitness account of the Battle of Pea Ridge and correspondence between the donor and former Arkansas History Commission Director Ted Worley about the manuscript.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Battle of Pea Ridge, also known as the Battle of Elkhorn Tavern, was fought in Benton County, Arkansas from March 7-8, 1862 between the Union Army of the Southwest and the Confederate Army of the West. It resulted in securing Missouri for the Union.
