This collection contains the Justice of the Peace proceedings from 1892-1934 from Marion County, the bulk of which were presided over by JP James P. Brady.
Biographical/Historical Note
Marion County, Arkansas, was created in 1835 but within that same year the county name was changed to Searcy County by the Territorial government. In September 1836, the following year, the First General Assembly of the State of Arkansas changed the name back to Marion County. James P. Brady of Powell, Arkansas, was a Justice of the Peace (JP) in Marion County during this period. He was a Confederate veteran and a Democrat.
