Description
This collection consists of one one-hundred dollar bond for Memphis-Dallas Gulf Railway and one five-hundred dollar bond for Memphis Dallas Gulf Railway, dated October 1, 1918.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Memphis-Dallas Gulf Railway was incorporated in 1906 as the Memphis, Paris and Gulf Railway. The name was changed in 1910 when it took over the operation of two other lines: the Antoine Valley Railroad, and the Ultima Thule, Arkadelphia and Mississippi Railway. It offered passenger and freight service from 1947 to 1993.
