This collection contains a program for the First Annual Dinner and reunion of the McCarthy Light Guards in 1930.

Biographical/Historical Note

The McCarthy Light Guards were organized in Little Rock in 1887, being named for John H. McCarthy, a business who bought their uniforms. The unit competed in several drill competitions, including the first place at Nashville, Tennessee. The unit was invited to attend the Chicago Worlds Far in 1893. The McCarthy Light Guards was mobilized in 1894 to deal with a rail road worker's strike.
