Description

This collection contains papers collected by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Watkins and the Edmund Hogan family. Watkins is a direct descendant of Edmund Hogan. The papers include a family Bible, legal documents, and research notes regarding Edmund Hogan and members of the Hogan family.

Biographical/Historical Note

Edmund Hogan settled in Arkansas after serving in the War of 1812. Originally from Georgia, Hogan was active in Arkansas politics. He represented Arkansas County in the third Territorial General Assembly of Missouri in 1816, and in 1819 he served as Justice of the Peace in Pulaski County, Arkansas. In 1821, he was elected as a representative to the Arkansas Legislature from Pulaski County and served until his death in 1828.
