This collection contains a letter written by Dr. J.F. Stanford announcing his candidacy for Mayor of Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1935. Stanford was campaigning on veterinary and small business issues.

Biographical/Historical Note

John Fred Stanford (1876-1957) was born to J.C. Stanford and Sarah E. Stanford on April 25, 1876 in Scott County, Arkansas. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and graduated from McKillip Veterinary College in Chicago, Illinois. Stanford operated the Arkansas Veterinary College between 1912-1922 and also taught at the University of Arkansas College of Agriculture. He became known as the first State Veterinarian of Arkansas. Dr. John Fred Stanford died September 9, 1957.
