This collection contains letters from Joseph Denegre, W. Cox and Company, New Orleans, to William Ashley of Little Rock.
Biographical/Historical Note
Joseph Denegre was a part of the W. Cox and Company, New Orleans, Louisiana, at the beginning of the Civil War. William Elliot Ashley, son of Chester and Mary Watkins Worthington Elliot Ashley, served as Little Rock Mayor from 1857-1858 and 1861-1863 until the occupation of Little Rock.
