Description

This collection contains the papers of Joseph Fenno, a Little Rock, Arkansas merchant with business interests in Chicot County and also contains some papers belonging to business associates of Joseph Fenno. These papers primarily consist of business and legal documents with some correspondence between 1841 and 1892.

Biographical/Historical Note

Joseph Fenno was born in Massachusetts around 1802. He moved to Pulaski County, Arkansas where he was a merchant. Fenno had a partnership for a time with T.D. Merrick as forwarding and commission merchants operating under the name "T.D. Merrick and Company," at Little Rock's steamboat landing. Fenno was elected as a justice of the peace in Big Rock Township, Pulaski County.
