This collection contains Horace Chamberlin's scholarship certificate issued by the Vicksburg, Mississippi schools.
Biographical/Historical Note
Horace Chamberlin (1881-1950) was originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he attended school. He moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1903 and worked as a drug clerk. Chamberlin studied law at the University of Arkansas Law School, located at Little Rock at that time and graduated in 1906. Chamberlin married Little Rock resident Keatts Biscoe. During World War I Chamberlin first served as chairman of the local exemption board. In 1918 Chamberlain volunteered for service, was commissioned as a major and served with the Judge Advocate General's department in Augusta, Georgia. Chamberlin died in 1950.
