Description
This writ notified Benjamin Stinnett of Marion County, Arkansas, of a five dollar fine. A writ is a written command in the name of a court or other legal authority to act in some way.
Biographical/Historical Note
Benjamin Stinnett was born in 1836 to David (1800-1868) and Elizabeth Wood Stinnett (1807-1896). Benjamin married Mary J. Duncan on July 28, 1857. He enlisted in Colonel Mitchell's Company C, 14th Regiment, Arkansas Infantry, before transferring to Colonel McIntosh's company. He lost a leg during the Civil War and was approved for a Confederate pension in 1891.
