Description

Scrapbook entitled "Historical Documents and Newspaper clippings of Historical Interest from Old Newspapers of Hempstead County, Arkansas. 1819" and "Hempstead County, Historical Records Survey, Lucile M. Carrigan, worker." This scrapbook includes photos of the Hempstead County Courthouses, and newspaper clippings, circa 1930s-1940s, as well as court documents, spanning 1821-1875, from Hempstead County, Arkansas. The scrapbook was compiled circa 1930s-1940s by Lucile M. Carrigan, a worker of the Historical Records Survey to document some of the history of Hempstead County, established in 1819. Loose documents were removed from the scrapbook by Arkansas State Archives staff in 2021 for conservation reasons, and original locations are recorded in the comments field of each item.
