Description
This collection contains an incomplete run of conference journals from annual United Methodist Church gatherings in Little Rock and North Arkansas, spanning 50 years.
Biographical/Historical Note
The United Methodist Church was created on April 23, 1968, when The Evangelical United Brethren Church and The Methodist Church united to form a new denomination. Methodism itself dates back to 1736 and the leadership of John and Charles Wesley. United Methodists share an historic connection to other Methodist and Wesleyan bodies. The Arkansas Area is currently led by Bishop Gary E. Mueller who was elected to his position in 2012. Conferences are held annually to address church business, give awards, and provide continuing education as well as motivation for the church leaders.
