Description
This collection contains a scrapbook tracing the family history of the Fred Maxwell family of Sharp County. There are pictures, birth certificates, marriage records, and other documentation.
Biographical/Historical Note
Fred Maxwell was born in Sharp County on November 22, 1903, to Charles Albert Maxwell (born 1877-1967) and Julia Martha Raney (1891-1953). He had one sister, Fannie Belle Maxwell, born in 1911, and one brother, James Bascum Maxwell, born in 1905. Fred served in a Civil Defense Plant during World War II, and later ran a restaurant with his wife, Sarah Louise Shelton. After the restaurant closed, Fred worked at the Western Auto Store until retirement. In 1981, he put together a scrapbook tracing his family tree back several generations.
