Biographical/Historical Note

These index cards were compiled, circa 1911-1920s, by Arkansas History Commission director Dallas Herndon, from a variety of sources, likely including available muster rolls, Arkansas newspapers, and National Archives Record Association Mexican War service records. These cards’ template was produced to index information on Civil War soldiers and includes typed fields with the dates "1861-1865." Surplus Civil War indexing cards were used for this Mexican War soldiers indexing project.
