To the President
Memphis + Little Rock R.R.
Dr Sir --
I am authorized to say by
citizens of Surrounded Hill, that they are
anxious for the depot to be located on
the land lying between the Harris farms,
one fourth of a mile west of the side track,
for the following reasons to wit:
1st. They can have a high dry wagon
road to Des Arc.
2d They can get a good Deed to the land,
3d, They wish to start business houses
here, and are not willing to build on land
they cannot get a deed to.
4th. This is the central point for this sec -
tion of country.
Further, the company can get a
deed to all the land they may need, free
of charges, for track and depot purposes,
say two hundred feet by eighty rods, if
they prefer it in that shape; can have the
land on either side of the road you wish,
and more land if needed.
The earth to be removed to put
[Page 2] in side track, will be two feet three
inches
I hope you will give us a call
and see for yourself the many advantages
in locating the depot at this point
We intend building up a
tram here at an early day. We have
Three or four stores waiting location
Respectfully yours
B.H. Madrin
