Daily newspaper column depicting hand-drawn sketches on topics of Arkansas history. Drawings include the portraits of William Woodruff and William Clark.

Transcription

Oct. 31, 1819 Wm. E. Woodruff, founder of Gazette, arrived at Arkansas Post, left New York 1817 and worked en route at Louisville and Russellville, KY, bought press at Franklin, Tenn., and transported it by boat down Cumberland, Ohio, Mississippi and Arkansas Rivers.

Central Collegiate Institute at Altus opened Oct. 31, 1876.

William Clark became governor of Missouri Ter., including Arkansas Oct. 31, 1812.
