September 13, 1831 Hon. S. W. Peel born near Batesville, first native born Arkansan to enter Congress, U. S. Representative 1883 to 1893.

Rector incorporated Sept. 13, 1887.

Jas. S. Conway inaugurated first governor on Sept. 13, 1836.
