August 23, 1828 Samuel W. Williams born, lieut-colonel 17th Ark. Inf., prominent early lawyer, atty. general, state senator, active against conspiracy to overthrow Baxter government in 1874.
Special judge on Supreme Court bench.
Strong advocate of railroad system of state from 1850.
Recruited 17th Ark. Infantry, C.S.A.
