August 12, 1918 first unit of 39th Division containing 1, 2, and 3 Arkansas Infantry arrived in France.

Aviator, marine, general, infantry, seaman.

First Lodge of I.O.O.F. organized at Little Rock Aug. 12, 1839.

General Thos. Adams Smith after whom Ft. Smith was named born in Virginia Aug. 12, 1781.
