Description
This printed letter written by Little Rock Tippecanoe Club includes a note written by Matthew Cunningham requesting that H.B. Rose send a delegate from Franklin County to the Young Men's Whig Convention held in Little Rock July 1840.
Biographical/Historical Note
Matthew Cunningham (1782-1851) was elected in 1831 as the first mayor of the city of Little Rock, Arkansas. He was also the first physician within the city. Before coming to Arkansas in 1820, he married Eliza Wilson Bertrand, widow of Pierre Bertrand and mother of Charles P. Bertrand, while living in New York.
