This collection contains a letter written by William A. Burke.
Biographical/Historical Note
William A. Burke was the Superintendent for the Lowell Machine Shop in Lowell, Massachusetts. The Lowell Machine Shop was organized in 1843 with John A. Lowell as President. They made steam engines, boilers, and machinists' tools. Lazell, Perkins and Company was established in the 1690s and was the second largest iron works manufacturer of its day. They were also known as the Bridgewater Iron Works.
