Biographical/Historical Note

Benjamin Dunton Brickhouse was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 8, 1873 to Benjamin and Louise Brickhouse. His family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1891. Benjamin graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1908 with a degree in law and worked as a lawyer for a number of years in Little Rock. He was elected mayor of Little Rock in 1919, serving two terms in office. Benjamin married Edna Erion from Paris, Illinois on June 20, 1894 and had two children.
