This collection contains a letter of appreciation for Lucille’s 25 years of loyal service in the Arkansas Highway Department and a letter receipting a book about the Dishogh’s family history.

Biographical/Historical Note

Lucille Virginia Battle Dishongh was born in Oil City, Louisiana to Alexander Wade and Alice Dollyhide Battle on August 23, 1921. Lucille moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she graduated from Little Rock Senior High School in 1939 and later attended Little Rock Junior College. She worked in administration at the Ordnance Plant in Jacksonville during World War II. Lucille married Louis E. "Dish" Dishongh and they made Little Rock their home. She worked for 38 years as the executive secretary for the Arkansas Highway Department. Lucille was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an avid genealogist. She died in Little Rock on September 19, 2011 at the age of 90.
