This collection contains one Little Rock school register ledger that names the pupils enlisted in public school from 1901-1904, and the dates they attended.

Biographical/Historical Note

Little Rock’s first public school was located at 7th and Scott Streets and opened on August 29, 1853. The administration for the new public school system was the Committee on Schools and they were managed by the City Council of Little Rock. The public school system in Little Rock ceased operation during the Civil War but resumed in February of 1869. By 1890, Little Rock public schools were operating five schools for white students and three schools for black students.
