This card index covers Tennessee land grants for 1770-1900 and indicates the land office which issued each grant.
Biographical/Historical Note
North Carolina granted land to settlers in what is now the state of Tennessee until 1800. In 1806, Tennessee set up a land office for East Tennessee and another that served the rest of the state. In 1824 three additional offices were opened for the Mountain District, Middle Tennessee, and West Tennessee.
