Biographical/Historical Note

John W. Taylor was born about 1836 in Mississippi, the son of Lewis P. and Elizabeth Taylor. At the beginning of the Civil War, he was living in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. In 1861, he enlisted in Company D, Fifteenth Mississippi Infantry, Confederate Army.
