This collection contains pedigree charts, genealogical abstracts, clippings, correspondence, lists, applications, coats of arms, and notes related to the Pierce family, early settlers of Jefferson County, Arkansas.

Biographical/Historical Note

John Howard Pierce was born at Sherrill, Arkansas, September 25, 1892, the son of John Benjamin Pierce and Columbia Ellen Hudges. He graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School and served as a field clerk with the United States Army during World War I. He was a member of the National Genealogical Society and the Sons of the American Revolution. He married Willie Mae Chapman but they had no children. He died in May 18, 1958, and is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Little Rock, Arkansas.
