Description

This account book contains store and farm accounts, lists of farm hands, and records of a cotton brokerage.

Biographical/Historical Note

Henry Strong (1825-1897), farmer, merchant, and educator of Montroy, Manchester Township, Clark County, Arkansas, was born in Lawrence County, Alabama, the son of Indian War veteran Nathan Strong. The family moved to Clark County in 1837. In 1851, Henry opened a general store that he ran for four years. He then became a farmer and later a schoolteacher. He married twice and was the father of five children. Strong and many members of his family are buried in the Strong Family Cemetery in Clark County.
