These papers contain the personal and professional correspondence, financial documents, and legal documents that once belonged to Rowan Moody Sankey (R.M.S.) Butner.

Biographical/Historical Note

Rowan Moody Sankey (R.M.S.) Butner was born in Arkansas on March 17, 1879. He worked as a manager of a saw mill before becoming a loan manager at the Union and Mercantile Trust Company in the 1920s. Butner bought and sold real estate in Little Rock and the Argenta district in North Little Rock. On June 5, 1939, Butner became the acting Postmaster in North Little Rock, where he worked until a physical disability caused him to retire in 1942. He died on June 18, 1951.
